Warm Up America!’s annual ‘Made With Love’ brings warmth for fifth year in a row

Carrollton, TX (December 3, 2018) - Texas winters aren’t the most brutal, but without a warm hat, scarf or pair of gloves, they can still be cold. What if you didn’t have these items to keep you warm on the coldest days of the year?

Warm Up America!’s fifth annual ‘Made With Love’ event will share some love and warmth with people who might not have a hat or pair of gloves to keep them warm. Planned for Jan. 12, 2018, the event, which is being supported by , will leave knitted and crocheted hats, scarves and gloves with tags that say: “Take me, I’m yours!” hanging from trees and fences in neighborhoods in Dallas for people to take and use to keep warm.

“There were a ton of people that came out and everyone was excited to be there,” WUA! volunteer Anne Pfluger said of the 2018 event. “Once we started hanging everything up and the residents came out and realized they were free, they were more than grateful.”

The goal is to collect 5,000 donations. Anyone who would like to donate a knitted or crocheted hat, scarf or pair of mittens (note: items can be any size from child to adult) can drop or mail them to the Warm Up America! office by Dec. 21:

ABOUT WARM UP AMERICA!
Started in a small Wisconsin town with neighbors knitting and crocheting afghans for neighbors in need, Warm Up America! is a charity that has warmed people's lives since 1991. Founder Evie Rosen came up with the idea of having volunteers knit or crochet small sections and then others join them together to make a full afghan, which quickly caught on. Thanks to the generosity of knitters and crocheters around the country, today Warm Up America! distributes warm afghans, caps and other items to tens of thousands of people in need.
